Here is the arithmetic in two lines, because everything else on this page follows from it. Our highest per-seat day is $145. So six is where a Rhodes private day cruise starts to compete with our priciest seat, nine is where all three per-boat fares do, and below six it has to make sense for some other reason — which it often does.

What each per-boat listing actually says. $740 is described as a private boat tour around Stegna beach and a quieter beach reached from it, with swimming and snorkeling in clear water, a modern boat and four hours. $1,218 prints its cap of twelve guests in the title, stops at Ladiko Bay and Anthony Quinn Bay, and serves a BBQ with drinks on the scenic return over five hours. $797 is six hours of sea kayaking at Symi, paddling to St. George Disalonas Bay with swimming and a picnic lunch on the beach. That third one never uses the word private, so we will not either: what we can say is that its fare reads as a fare for the outing rather than for one place in a kayak, and that is why it sits on this page.

What a full day by the seat gets you for less. Quite a lot, and pretending otherwise would be silly. $71 is six hours on a catamaran with a Mediterranean buffet lunch, unlimited drinks and 2,483 reviews at 4.8 — the largest body of evidence on this site by a long way. $97 runs six hours on a traditional Greek caique with gourmet food and an open bar. $68 is six hours on the Cherry Catamaran along the east coast with snacks, lunch and drinks. $63 is a guided full day at sea suitable for all ages. None of them hands you the boat, and all of them cost less per head than a Rhodes private day cruise unless your group is large.

The trade that is actually on offer. A per-boat fare converts money into control: which bay, how long the swimming stop runs, when lunch happens, who is on the deck. A per-seat fare converts money into inclusions: a biologist, a buffet, an open bar, a professional fishing crew. Both are real. Neither is a trick.

Two conclusions come out of that table and both are worth saying plainly. The first: from six people the four-hour boat and the kayak day already sit under our highest per-seat day, from nine all three do, and at twelve the four-hour boat is down to $61.67 a head, which is less than most seats we sell. The second: nothing here ever undercuts $26. Six hours on a traditional wooden boat with three named stops, snacks and music, at 165 reviews and a rating of 4.2, is the lowest fare on this site and no amount of dividing gets a private boat down to it. If the budget is the whole question, that listing is the answer and this page is not.

Why four hours and six hours are not the same day. $740 is the cheapest per-boat fare and also the shortest, at four hours. Measured per hour it is $185 against $132.83 for the six-hour kayak day, so the longer outing is the better value per hour while costing more in total. Which one you want depends on whether you are trying to fill a day or fit around one, and no table answers that.

Where the twelve-guest cap changes the maths. $1,218 is the highest fare on this site, and it is also the only per-boat listing that tells you how many people it takes. At its full twelve that is $101.50 a head for five hours with a BBQ, drinks and two named bays — roughly the same per-head figure as our $102 top pick, for a boat with nobody else on it. That is the clearest single case for a Rhodes private day cruise anywhere on this site, and it exists only because the listing published its capacity.

What we cannot tell you. Whether the four-hour boat or the kayak day can take nine, ten or twelve people, because neither listing says. Ask the operator. A Rhodes private day cruise booked on an assumed capacity is the one way this arithmetic goes wrong.
